David James Watson 

Writer | Director | Editor

David is a London-based writer, director and editor. His approach to cinema is is one of exploration rather than escapism broaching philosophical or psychological questions in the theme with experimentation in narrative.
His early work began in theatre in a West End production adapted from the essays of Jerome K. Jerome. In 2015, he co-founded The Dryades Theatre Group, creating a series of plays he wrote, directed, and performed in as part of a critically acclaimed “secret season” staged in an undisclosed London location.
David transitioned into filmmaking with his debut award-winning feature They Came Like Swallows (2019). His work continues to explore intimate, character-driven storytelling with a distinct visual and tonal identity.
Alongside his film practice, he works as a commercial director and editor and has delivered guest lectures and a Masterclass on Narrative at Imperial College London and ESCP Business School.
His second feature, In a Wake of Sleep, is currently in post-production, with All Too Human in development as well as a further slate of projects in active development.
